Zimbabwe Benefits From Japan's Investment Promotion Centre
HARARE,
July (Sibexnews) --Zimbabwe is among seven African countries benefiting
from an investment promotion centre established by Japan to improve
trade with Asia.
The
United Nations Industrial Development Organisation Asia-Africa Investment
Technology Promotion Centre (UNIDO-AAITPC) has been initiated and
funded by the government of Japan.
A
lot of work has already been done by AAITPC to enhance trade between
Asia and Zimbabwe.
Dato
Jegathesan, head of an 11-member Malaysian delegation visiting Zimbabwe
told guests at a dinner hosted by the Metropolitan Bank in honour
of his mission that Zimbabwe will become part of the initiative
next year.
The
centre has however, started encouraging business delegations to
visit Zimbabwe and made contacts with the United Trans Africa Services
(UTAS Asia). TAS Asia was formed to boost trade between Zimbabwe
and the rest of Asia.
"We
(UNIDO-AAITPC) are doing two countries every year and Zimbabwe would
be coming in 2003," said Dato Jegathesan who is also a founder member
of the Zimbabwe Investment Centre and advisor to the Reserve Bank
of Zimbabwe.
