GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS AND OTHER AGENCIES RELATED TO FOREIGN INVESTMENT

The Zimbabwe Investment Centre

The Zimbabwe Investment Centre was established by Act of Parliament as an one-stop investment promotion agency and should be your fist contact in Zimbabwe. You will find professional staff to guide you through your initial enquiries and to provide you with relevant information.

The Centre is an organization which will facilitate and simplify the establishment of business operations in Zimbabwe for the investor.

The criteria for the consideration of a new investment project in Zimbabwe are:

  • The extent to which the project will utilize local resources and natural resources.
  • The development of human resources and the creation of employment opportunities.
  • The export potential and the capacity for import substitution.
  • The amount of convertible foreign currency that may be earned or saved.
  • The impact the project is likely to have on existing industry and the development thereof.
  • The potential for the transfer of technology.
  • The location of the project and its potential for the development of the less developed areas of the country.
An investor wishing to make application for the approval of a project through the Centre is required to submit an application in the prescribed form with supporting document and , in some instance, accompanied by a fee.

The Centre will, within fifteen days, refer the application to the Investment Committee and within forty-five days advise the applicant of the Committee’s decision.
