The Hippalos Centre

AAITPC, also known as the Hippalos Centre, is now fully operational.

In August 1999, the Centre's official launch ceremony was presided over by the Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry. The gathering was addressed by Yo Maruno, Deputy to the Director-General of UNIDO and Managing Director, Investment Promotion and Institutional Capacity Building Division, as well as by His Excellency Harashima, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, in front of a high level audience and representatives from the Malaysian business community.

In October 1999, Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, launched the AAITPC web site, the Centre's first operational activity. This underscored the Malaysian Government's commitment to South-South cooperation in general and, in particular, to the efforts undertaken through AAITPC by UNIDO.
