(b) INCOME TAX

National Social Security Authority 

The National Social Security Authority {NSSA) was established to provide for pension and other benefits together with a workmen's' compensation scheme.

The pension and other benefits scheme is a contributory one with both employers and employees required to pay equal monthly contributions. Employees contribute 3% of their gross monthly insurable earnings, the current maximum being $4000 per month with employers contributing a further 3% and being responsible for paying the total contribution to the NSSA.

Levies

To fund a number of associations and development programs operating in Zimbabwe the Government has introduced a limited number of levies to be paid by all companies operating in Zimbabwe.

Manpower Development Levy · 1% of total wage bill

Development Levy · 5% of tax payable by companies, private business corporations, trusts and taxable income from trade or investment by an individual.

Standards Association Levy · 0,15% of total wage bill

ZimTrade Levy · 0,01% of the value of all exports and imports (excluding gold and minerals)

Fuel Levy · 50 cents per litre on petrol and $1,40 on diesel fuel

Tourism Levy · 2% on all sales within the industry
